Finding a New Direction: How Brock Switched from Finance to Saving Lives

Sometimes, discovering the right career path means realizing when something is not the right fit. For Brock, that moment came during his time studying finance in college. It just did not feel like the future he wanted.

Instead, he thought about what had brought him joy in the past—his time working as a lifeguard. He loved being part of a team that helped people and made a difference. While lifeguarding gave him valuable experience, he knew it was not a long term career. That led him to consider a new direction that still allowed him to serve others: becoming an Emergency Medical Technician.

A Fast Track to a Life Saving Career

Brock enrolled in a local EMT school, a program that took just four months and offered the flexibility of part time classes. His hands-on training included shadowing paramedics in both Los Angeles and Costa Mesa, giving him real world experience and helping him grow in confidence.

Today, at 27, Brock is proud of the decision he made. He is now on the path to becoming a paramedic and has set his sights on becoming a firefighter.

He found his pace, even if it started slower than expected. And now, every step forward is with purpose.
