27 Jul Where Creativity Meets Technology: Hannah’s Career in User Interface Design
When Hannah mentioned that she worked in “UI,” I had to ask what that meant.
She smiled and explained that UI stands for User Interface. It is the design of the screens, buttons, menus, and layouts people interact with every time they use an app or website. A good User Interface makes technology easy to understand and enjoyable to use.
Hannah discovered this career while studying at the University of Hawaii, where she took a User Interface class that introduced her to a field she had never considered before. She also points out that many community colleges now offer User Interface courses, making this career path accessible to people from a variety of educational backgrounds.
For the past six to seven years, Hannah has been working in User Interface design, helping create digital experiences that are both functional and visually appealing.
Technology Still Needs People
As artificial intelligence becomes more common, many people wonder how it will affect careers like User Interface design.
Hannah acknowledges that AI has introduced new challenges, but she also believes there is still tremendous value in human designers. While AI can generate ideas, businesses continue to rely on trained User Interface professionals because they understand people, solve problems creatively, and produce better overall experiences.
Technology may continue to evolve, but thoughtful design still requires human insight.
A Creative Life Beyond Work
Hannah’s creativity extends beyond the digital world.
She is also a poet and author. Writing poetry brings her great joy, and she has published a book titled The Chord of the Spirit, which is available on Amazon.
Her story is a reminder that technical careers and creative passions do not have to compete with one another. They can grow together and strengthen each other.
Stay True to Your Convictions
At 27 years old, Hannah encourages others with a simple but powerful piece of advice:
Stay strong in your convictions.
Whether pursuing a career in technology, the arts, or another skilled profession, staying committed to your values and continuing to learn can open doors to opportunities you never expected.
