19 Jul A Second Career Built on Service: Kim’s Journey to Entrepreneurship
After spending more than 20 years serving her community as a law enforcement officer, Kim retired knowing she still wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. While her next chapter looked very different from her first, the heart behind her work remained the same: serving others.
Instead of ending her career after retirement, Kim chose to begin a new one.
She entered the beauty industry and became an entrepreneur at Milk & Honey Nails Spa and Salon in Temecula, California. The salon celebrated its Grand Opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on December 11, 2025, marking the beginning of an exciting new venture.
It was during a visit to the area that I had the opportunity to meet Kim. After stopping in for a manicure and pedicure, I quickly saw the care and professionalism that she and the team brought to every customer. The experience was excellent, and it became clear that Kim had successfully carried the same commitment to serving people from her law enforcement career into her new business.
A Career Change That Made Sense
Changing careers after two decades can feel intimidating, but Kim proves that the skills developed in one profession often transfer into another. Her years of serving the public taught her the importance of listening, building trust, and making people feel valued. Those same qualities are helping her succeed as a business owner.
Her story reminds us that entrepreneurship is another pathway within the skilled trades. Whether someone is beginning their first career or looking for a fresh start after retirement, learning a new trade can create opportunities to build something meaningful.
Never Stop Growing
Kim’s journey shows that retirement does not have to mean the end of a career. Sometimes it becomes the beginning of an entirely new one.
If you find yourself in the Temecula, California, area, consider stopping by Milk & Honey Nails Spa and Salon. You’ll experience the welcoming atmosphere that first introduced me to Kim and see firsthand how she has turned a lifetime of serving others into a thriving business.
