When you meet Bridget, her calm demeanor and warm Tennessee accent immediately put you at ease. As a medical assistant, her job is to support both patients and providers, and she does it with care, confidence, and heart.
We started chatting just as I was stepping onto the scale (not exactly my favorite part of a doctor visit), and I asked how she got into this line of work. Her answer was simple. Her mom was a medical assistant, and she wanted to follow in her footsteps.
So off to medical assistant school, she went.
Loving Her Career and the People in It
Bridget has no regrets about her path. At 43, she has built a career she enjoys. When asked if she was happy with her work, her answer was a clear yes. She loves what she does and finds joy in helping others every day.
One of her favorite parts of the profession is its flexibility. As she put it, medical assistants can work anywhere. That is a major benefit for anyone looking for a portable and stable career in the healthcare field.
Bridget’s Advice for Future Medical Assistants
When asked what advice she would give someone thinking about becoming a medical assistant, her response was heartfelt and to the point:
“You need to love people.”

She completed a one year certification course to get started, showing that a rewarding healthcare career doesn’t always require a four year degree.
